Robert Thomas "Rob" Conway, Jr. (born November 28, 1974 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is a professional American wrestler known for his time in the WWE .
Career
Beginnings
Rob graduated from New Albany High School in Indiana in 1990 and was already a good athlete by then. His main activity was in the field of basketball and so he also played for the college team of Graceland College. After college, he worked as a fitness trainer and sold sporting goods. In 1997 he saw some wrestlers live in Jeffersonville, Indiana and decided to give it a try himself. He was trained by Danny Davis and began his career in Memphis Championship Wrestling .
WWE
He was later able to sign a contract with the former WWF (now WWE) and was initially sent to their former Ohio Valley Wrestling development league. In both leagues he was in a team with Nick Dinsmore , which was called Limited Edition (MCW), the Borkcin Brothers or Lords of the Ring (OVW). At OVW, he and Dinsmore were also members of Bolin's Services along with The Prototype , Bull Buchanan and Mark Henry .
As Lords of the Ring , Conway and Dinsmore won the OVW Tag Team title 10 times and the MCW North American Tag Team title once . On April 28, 1999, Conway defeated his own partner to win the OVW Heavyweight Championship . He lost the title a little later again to Dinsmore and by September 2000 two more titles followed.
On May 20, 2000, he made his television debut for WWE . Over the next three years, Conway appeared in sample fighting in the B-shows Velocity and Heat , where he against wrestlers like A-Train , Randy Orton and The Hurricane as jobbers worked.
On August 18, 2003, he made his debut on the main show Raw . There he became a member of the La Résistance team ( Sylvain Grenier and René Duprée ). The trio feuded with the Dudley Boyz , The Hurricane and Rosey , as well as Garrison Cade and Mark Jindrak , among others . In October 2003, Conway suffered an injury that forced him to take a break until March 15, 2004.
After Dupree switched to SmackDown , Conway and Grenier continued as a tag team . They won the World Tag Team Championship three times. Their first title reign began when they defeated Chris Benoit and Edge on May 31, 2004. After they had lost the title to the same again, they won the title for the second time on November 1, 2004. This time they lost the title to William Regal and Eugene after just two weeks . The third and final time they got the title on January 16, 2005, after defeating William Regal and Jonathan Coachman (replacing the injured Eugene). On February 7th, La Résistance finally lost the title to Regal and his new partner Yoshihiro Tajiri .
Conway and Grenier contested a number of other title fights, but won this no more. The team was then temporarily separated. As of 2005, Conway had feud programs with Eugene and Jim Duggan . He was also allowed to challenge Ric Flair for the Intercontinental title , but did not receive the title.
On November 15, 2005, he was sent back to Ohio Valley Wrestling . There was a reunification of La Résistance together with Sylvian Grenier. They won the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles in the following period . On January 1, 2007, Conway was brought back to Raw. Vince McMahon publicly announced Conway's dismissal after a 21-second battle with Jeff Hardy that he lost .
