history

The UHC Stockerau was founded in 1946. In the years 1946 to 1970 the club was able to achieve its first successes in regional tournaments, such as winning the Steffen Cup in Eggenburg in 1950 , and UHC Stockerau also won the Korneuburg Wenisch tournament several times . At that time there was no state league, which is why the team undertook competition trips to Germany and Brno , where they appeared as Union HC-KPÖ Stockerau. After the founding of the national handball league, the UHC Stockerau played 2 seasons in the national league A, the highest division, before relegating to the national league B. Between 1972 and 1985 the Stockerau played almost continuously in the 2nd division.

In 1978 they made promotion, but after only one season the team was relegated. From 1985 the UHC Stockerau went uphill. This year not only the Stockerau sports hall was opened, but also the youth work began, and the team was voted the best in Lower Austria. The club achieved a historic success in the 1985/86 season. This year, for the first time, the newly promoted champion in the State League A. The following year, the UHC Stockerau celebrated its debut in the European Cup against Dukla Prague. Internationally, the UHC Stockerau was most successful in the 1990/91 season, so the team triumphed over BSV Bern , Baník Karviná, and only had to admit defeat in the quarter-finals against Bramac Veszprém .

Although the UHC Stockerau was able to secure its athletic stay in the league A due to the 2nd place in the promotion play-off, the club had to say goodbye to the two highest leagues in Austria due to financial difficulties and only played in the following season 1st Lower Austria Regional League. After the club was relegated here, the Stockerauer had to contest one year in the 2nd regional league. In 2005 he was promoted to the 1st Lower Austria regional league. In the 2007/08 season, the Lower Austrian provincial championship was won in the finals against Union St. Pölten, thus fixing participation in the regional league.
