Union Internationale contre le cancer
Union internationale contre le cancer ( UICC ) ( German international association against cancer ) is the name of an international organization based in Geneva , which is dedicated to the research, prevention and treatment of cancer . The UICC was founded in 1933.
The UICC unites 276 member organizations in 86 countries in the fight against cancer, including the German Cancer Society , the German Cancer Aid and the German Cancer Research Center .
In 2006 the UICC, together with the World Health Organization and other organizations, launched World Cancer Day , which is dated February 4th . It goes back to Article 10 of the so-called "Paris Charter" of February 4, 2000.
Staging according to UICC
According to the specifications of the UICC, stages of cancer can be summarized in five stage groups according to the TNM classification . This means that all key features of tumor classification can be taken into account and given a weighting. For example, all cases in which distant metastases were diagnosed (M1) are assigned to UICC stage IV , regardless of the stage of the primary tumor and the lymph node involvement .
Stage 0 | Tis | N0 | M0 |
Stage IA | T1 | N0 | M0 |
Stage IB | T2 | N0 | M0 |
Stage IIA | T3 | N0 | M0 |
Stage IIB | T1, T2, T3 | N1 | M0 |
Stage III | T4 | Every N | M0 |
Stage IV | Every T | Every N | M1 |
The UICC classification is different for the individual tumors. In colorectal cancer there are z. B. also IIc, IIIa-IIIc, IVa and IVb.
