URS Corporation was an American service company in the field of development and support for construction and environmental remediation projects.
URS was founded in 1951 as Broadview Research and has been a public company since 1957. In 1968 United Research Incorporated from Cambridge was bought and the name changed from Broadview Research to United Research Services . Over the years, URS grew through various purchases, including a. by Woodward-Clyde Group Inc (1997), Dames and Moore (1999), EG&G (2002), Washington Group International (2007), Scott Wilson (2010) and BP Barber (2011).
In 2014, URS was acquired by AECOM for $ 6 billion .
