Benjamin Starke (born November 25, 1986 in Cottbus ) is a German swimmer .

Benjamin Starke started from 1993 to 2007 for PSV Cottbus 90 and later for SG Neukölln Berlin , where he was trained by Norbert Warnatzsch . In 2007 the swimmer won the German championship title over 200 meters butterfly, which was the first title for the butterfly specialist. Several times he was able to achieve other titles and top placements. He also competed in several individual courses and relays at the 2005 World Swimming Championships in Montréal , the 2006 European Swimming Championships in Budapest and the 2007 World Swimming Championships in Melbourne . At the German Swimming Championships 2008 , Starke qualified second behind Rupprath for the 100-meter butterfly course and also for the freestyle relay at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . There he was 41st in the butterfly race, with the 100-meter freestyle relay he came in 15th, over the double distance he was 12th.

At the 121st German Swimming Championships in 2009 in Berlin, Starke swam the 100 meter butterfly in 51.47 s, a new German record (50 meter pool) and thus fulfilled the qualification standard for the 2009 World Championships in Rome of the German Swimming Association ( DSV) . Together with Helge Meeuw , Hendrik Feldwehr and Paul Biedermann , Starke set a European record with the 4 × 100 meter layer relay in 3: 28.58 minutes in Rome, which was behind the US quartet around Michael, who swam a world record in 3: 27.28 minutes Phelps meant winning the silver medal.

After the Olympic Games in 2012 , Starke had to take a break until the end of 2013 due to an injury and then ended his career.

Starke began a love affair with tennis player Sabine Lisicki in 2012 . Both separated in 2013.
