The USS Milwaukee (LCS-5) is a Littoral Combat Ship of the United States Navy and belongs Freedom Class of. It is named after the city of Milwaukee , Wisconsin .
history
The contract to build the Milwaukee was awarded on December 29, 2010 to Marinette Marine in Marinette , Wisconsin. On 27 October 2011, the keel laying took place, the ship was launched on December 18, 2013 from the stack . It is the sixth ship to be named Milwaukee . Another 30 changes were made to the predecessor ship USS Fort Worth , to the type ship USS Freedom 100. An improvement is the new drive, which reaches even higher speeds.
