The Union Sportive Cognaçaise , US Cognac for short , is a French rugby union club founded on December 2, 1899 from Cognac . The club plays in the highest amateur league, the Fédérale 1 . Various successes in the 1950s and 1960s were significant. In 1965 they won the Challenge Yves du Manoir and in 1954 they lost the championship final against FC Grenoble 3: 5.

In 1906/07 , US Cognac reached the quarter-finals of the French championship for the first time as a finalist in the regional Loire group. After the club had reached the regional qualifying group stage of the championship several times in the 20s, 40s and 50s, the club reached the semi-finals in 1953 and the championship final in 1954. In the following years the club played mostly successfully in the regional qualifying round, but rarely survived the first knockout round of the championship. The last time the club was first class was during the 1992/93 season.
