Uan Rasey
Uan Rasey (born August 21, 1921 in Glasgow , Montana , † September 26, 2011 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American jazz trumpeter who was first trumpeter of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) studio orchestra for a quarter of a century .
Life
Rasey, born in Glasgow, Montana in 1921, began his career as first trumpeter with the MGM studio orchestra in 1949 and played there until 1974 for almost every film produced there, but also for other well-known film studios . Rasey became particularly famous for his trumpet solos in films such as An American in Paris (1951), You shall be my lucky star (1952) and West Side Story .
In 2008 he gave an interview in Trying to Get Good: The Jazz Odyssey of Jack Sheldon , a documentary about jazz trumpeter Jack Sheldon .
Uan Rasey passed away a month after his 90th birthday.
