Udo Lehmann (water polo player)

Udo Lehmann (born February 22, 1943 in Berlin ; † June 9, 2007 in Berlin) was a German water polo player and manager. Among other things, he was team manager of the German national water polo team, round leader of the German Water Polo League (DWL) and looked after his home club, the German record champions Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 , for several years .

Life

Lehmann joined the water polo team of the Spandauer Wasserfreunde club as a goalkeeper in 1955 . Just three years later he became the leader of the swimmers and water polo warden. At the age of 21 he was appointed sports director and executive board member responsible for the entire swimming and water polo sector. He was also the coach of the club's water polo competition team. In 1976 the Spandauer Wasserfreunde and SC Spandau 04 merged to form Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 . Until 1995 he held the office of vice-president of the association.

From 1981 to 1991 he managed the water polo base in Berlin. Lehmann was a youth clerk for water polo in the German Swimming Association , member of the water polo association committee as a representative of the Bundesliga clubs and until April 1998 manager of the Bundesliga team. From May 1, 1998 he was the round leader of the German Water Polo League.

Lehman had been with the Deutsche Bundespost since 1958 and retired in 1998 after 40 years of service. He died of prostate cancer after a long illness .
