Udo Undeutsch

Udo Undeutsch (born December 22, 1917 in Weimar ; † February 16, 2013 in Cologne ) was a German psychologist with a focus on traffic and forensic psychology ( forensic psychology ).

Life

Undeutsch attended grammar school in Weimar . He then studied psychology at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . In 1940 he was supposed to become a Dr. rer. nat. have a PhD. In 1941 Undeutsch passed the examination to become a qualified psychologist. He then worked as an assistant to Friedrich Sander at the psychological institute in Jena .

In 1946 Undeutsch became a lecturer in psychology at the University of Mainz . In 1951 he received an extraordinary professorship at the University of Cologne and founded the first psychological institute in Cologne. From 1963 he held a chair for psychology there. In addition, he was director of the Institute for Psychological Diagnostics and Intervention at the university until his retirement. At the same time, he worked as a traffic and legal psychological expert and headed the senior expert position in Cologne.

In 1982 Undeutsch received the Federal Cross of Merit .

Undeutsch most recently worked in his own reviewer position and held courses on diagnostics and forensic psychology at the University of Cologne.

Act

As an expert in traffic psychology, Undeutsch wrote a large number of court reports. Among other things, he is known for the “Undeutsch hypothesis” and publications on exploration and anamnesis. In the second half of the 1990s he tried unsuccessfully to obtain approval for the polygraph as evidence .
