Location of Uedemerbruch in North Rhine-Westphalia |
Uedemerbruch is a district of the municipality Uedem in the Kleve district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Uedemerbruch was an independent municipality until 1969 .
geography
Uedemerbruch extends along the eastern foot of the Uedemer Hochwald and is a hoof settlement in an area that was drained by Dutch settlers in the 13th century. The natural western boundary of Uedemerbruch is the old Grenzley drainage ditch . A small village center formed around the former Uedemerbruch railway station in the 20th century. West of the church and south of the railway embankment is a small new building area from the 1970s and 1980s.
history
In 1295, Count Dietrich von Kleve awarded the Uedemerbruch in return for a lease and had it drained and cultivated by Dutch specialists. In that year the settlement also received its own jury. In 1319 about 44 hooves belonged to the broken colony , which were distributed among 76 owners. When Uedem was raised to town in 1359, the fractured colony retained its special legal position secured by privileges.
Since the 19th century Uedemerbruch formed a rural community in the mayor's office Keppeln (since 1937 Uedem office) in the Kleve district in the administrative district of Düsseldorf . From 1884 to 1945 there was a Uedemerbruch railway stop on the former Goch – Xanten railway line . At the end of the Second World War , fierce fighting took place in Uedemerbruch as part of Operation Blockbuster . Canadian armed forces were only able to cross the aisle between the Uedemer Hochwald and the Tüschenwald towards Xanten after two weeks of heavy fighting.
On July 1, 1969, Uedemerbruch was incorporated into the municipality of Uedem by the law on the reorganization of the district of Kleve .
