Ugo Benzi
Ugo Benzi (* around 1360 in Spain , † 1439 in Florence ) was an Italian philosopher , theologian and professor of medicine in Pavia , Bologna , Florence and Padua during the Renaissance .
Life
Benzi was born in Spain and taught in Bologna, Pavia and Ferrara, where he was personal physician to the Duke of Ferrara , Modena and Reggio , Niccolò III. d'Este was. His fame earned him an invitation to Paris , where he treated King Charles VII of France . Benzi's treatise Trattato atilissimo circa la conservazione della sanitate was printed posthumously in 1481. It was one of the first medical texts in the national language and was reprinted numerous times. His vita was written in 1441 by his eldest son Soccino Benzi (1406–79; also a doctor).
