Jean-Alexandre Barré (born May 25, 1880 in Nantes , † April 26, 1967 in Strasbourg ) was a French neurologist .

Life

Barré was from 1919 professor of neurology at the University of Strasbourg .

In 1916, together with Georges Charles Guillain and André Strohl, he described Guillain-Barré polyradiculitis , which today is the most important cause of acute paralysis as a result of inflammation .
