Ugo Pietro Spinola
Ugo Pietro Spinola (born June 29, 1791 in Genoa , † January 21, 1858 in Rome ) was an Italian Roman Catholic cardinal .
Life
Spinola studied at the Collegio dei Protonotari in Rome, where he received a doctorate in civil and canon law in 1814. He was ordained a priest on December 23, 1815 and served as a papal diplomat in various cities:
- 1816 - Ascoli
- 1818 - Viterbo and Perugia
- 1823 - Macerata
- 1825 - Macerata and Camerino
Spinola was titular Archbishop of Thebae in 1826 and served as Apostolic Nuncio in Austria from 1826 to 1832 . In 1832 Pope Gregory XVI raised him . cardinal and awarded him as titular church Santi Silvestro e Martino ai Monti . Cardinal Spinola was Commendatar Abbot of Subiaco from 1838 to 1842 . He took part in the papal election in the conclave in 1846 , when Pope Pius IX. was chosen. Between 1857 and 1858 he held the office of Camerlengo of the College of Cardinals .
