The Uhlířský vrch (German Köhlerberg ) is a mountain near Bruntál ( Freudenthal ) in the Czech Republic , at the top of which is the baroque pilgrimage church Maria Hilf. The summit offers good vision of the surrounding peaks of the Low Jeseníky ( Nízký Jeseník ) and Jeseníky ( Hrubý Jeseník ).
Natural monument
The abandoned tuff quarry on the southern slope of the Köhlerberg was declared a natural monument in 1966.
Pilgrimage Church of Maria Hilf
The original wooden pilgrimage chapel was built in 1653 by governor Augustin Oswald von Lichtenstein as a widely visible symbol of the victory of the Counter Reformation . On the site of the chapel, a single-nave baroque church was built by architect Georg Friedrich from 1755 to 1765 . A copy of the miraculous image of Mariahilf was installed in the new pilgrimage church. Of particular interest are the exterior mosaics at the front entrance depicting St. Peter and St. Paul, dating from 1925.
Avenue of lime trees
The road to the top of the hill is lined with a four-row avenue of lime trees. The alley was planted from 1766-1770 by the free commander-in-chief of Riedheim. In 1973 the trees of the avenue were declared memorable, 20 years later the entire area including Lindengasse was declared a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
Way of the Cross
Along the upper part of Lindenallee there are 14 stations of the cross, painted by Franz Templer based on models by Gebhard Fugel .
