Ukrainian Institute of Steel Construction WN Schimanowski ( Ukrainian Український інститут сталевих конструкцій імені В. Н. Шимановського ) is a by Vitaly Nikolaevich Schimanowski designated institute in the Ukrainian capital Kiev .

The Ukrainian Institute for Steel Construction WN Schimanowski is a subject-related, integrated research and design institute that specializes in steel structures for buildings of various purposes in all economic and technical areas. As an organization of the Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine , it coordinates the scientific and technical activities in the field of metal construction .

The history of the institute

In 1944 the “Promstalkonstrukzija” trust founded a special design office in Kiev. The most important task of the office was the development of projects for the renewal and reconstruction of bridges, industrial plants and other objects that were destroyed during the German-Soviet war . This office was later renamed "Proektstalkonstrukzija". The State Institute for Project Planning (GPI) “Ukrproektstalkonstrukzija” was founded as a follow-up institute in 1960. In 1980 Vitaly Shimanovsky was appointed director of the institute. In 1983 GPI “Ukrproektstalkonstrukzija” was restructured into the design and research institute “UkrNIIproektstalkonstrukzija”, which became one of the leading research institutes in steel construction on the territory of the USSR . This institute included a production complex for the manufacture and assembly of steel structures, to which the Brovarskoj steel structure belonged, as well as seven organizational units - the Donbass divisional headquarters for operational safety and the departments of Mariupol , Poltava , Dnipropetrovsk , Kharkiv , Luhansk and Odessa .

In June 1994, according to Decree No. 210/93 of June 15, 1993 of the President of Ukraine “On the Transformation of State Enterprises into Joint Stock Companies”, the institute was restructured into a joint stock company . According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 1997, the institute "UkrNIIproektstalkonstrukzija" was registered in the register of scientific and technical organizations that were of strategic importance for the economy and security of the state. In 2000, after the death of Vitaly N. Shimanovsky, his name was given to the institute.

WN Schimanowski headed the institute for around twenty years. He had contributed a lot to its development. Under his direction and direct involvement, more than 10,000 projects have been developed, including bridges, towers, slipways , steel structures and supporting structures for buildings and systems.

Senior staff

In the course of time, the institute was headed by BP Petrov, OI Shumitskij, AI Issayev, IA Nechayev, and VN Shimanovsky. AW Schimanowski has been the director since 2011.

Numerous engineers and scientists were active in the institute who made up the core of the research area: besides WN Schimanowski the engineers and scientists OI Schumizki, PM Sosis, WI Kirejenko, LG Dmitrijew, AW Kassilow, WN Gordejew, AW Perelmuter, MP Kondra, IN Lebeditsch, RB Chartschenko, AS Gorodetsky, VB Barski, Ju.S. Borissenko, ML Grinberg, A. Yes. Prizker, WL Geifman, IL Ovdijenko.

Functions

The institute is one of the leading research and design institutes in the Ukrainian construction industry. It fulfills the functions of a basic organization of the Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine in the field of steel construction. It is one of the institutes that create official scientific and technical guidelines in the construction industry. It is a member of the scientific coordination and expert council for resources and safe operation of structures, buildings and machines.

The institute is a grassroots organization of the Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine, participated in the development of the concept of the state program for process safety in the main branches of the economy (part steel construction). The Technical Committee for Standardization 301 "Steel Construction" was created to improve national standardization for the construction and building materials industry in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Institute for Steel Construction is in charge. VN Schimanowsk .

Project planning and development activities

One of the most important tasks of the institute in the growth years was the development of the project of a fully welded bridge, the Paton Bridge over the Dnieper River in Kiev, which was implemented in close creative cooperation with the "Institute of Electrofusion Е.О. Paton" .

Following the institute's projects, the following walkway bridges were built:

as well as hanging pipeline transitions over the Angara and Ural rivers. During the reconstruction of the passage on the embankment of the Dniprovsk Hydroelectric Power Plant ( DniproHES ), the project of a curved bridge over the Dnieper river with a light steel structure was worked out.

The institute's specialists have achieved brilliant results in the development of the fully welded television towers from great heights. These are the implemented projects of television towers in the cities of Kiev, Saint Petersburg , Yerevan , Tbilisi , Kharkiv , with metal mast antennas of 260 m height. Exhibition center in the city of Kiev, Brovarskoj Avenue, as well as the National Complex “ Expo Center of Ukraine ”.

The institute designed a number of complex technical constructions for the main oil and gas pipelines, containers of different capacities for oil and oil products. In 2003 the tank with a volume of 75,000 m³ was designed and built later for the production line safety service "Brody". It is the only intermediate pumping station on the Ukrainian stretch of the oil pipeline " Druzhba Line " and the transit pumping of Russian oil carries out two strings of pipe. In addition, the crude oil tank farms for the refineries in Ukraine are being developed in the institute, especially the raw material stores for the "Naftochimik Prykarpattja" AG in the city of Nadwornaya, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast , and other tank systems.

Such objects include the “Jubileyny” stadium in the city of Sumy , with the national prize of Ukraine (2004), and the sports-game complex “Olimp” in the city of Yushny (near Odessa ), with the national prize in the field of architecture ( 2006). In 2004 the institute and the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture developed proposals for the reconstruction of the Kiev stadium “Dynamo”. In 2006 the roofing of the grandstands of the “Metallurg” stadium in the city of Dnepropetrovsk was designed and installed.

The institute's experts developed a total of about thirty thousand projects of buildings and facilities for various purposes for forty countries around the world.

The largest construction objects

The Paton Bridge in Kiev

The general planning of the Paton bridge was taken over together with the "Institute for Electro Welding Е.О. Paton". In 2001 the project of reconstruction of the bridge deck was developed.

Kiev TV tower

The television tower was designed and built according to the technical task and the order of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication Transmitters of the Ukrainian SSR. The leading design and construction organizations were involved in the construction of the television tower.
