The Teteriw ( Ukrainian Тетерів , Russian Тетерев (Teterew)) is a river in Ukraine . It is a right tributary of the Dnieper in the Dnepri Plain and Polesia . It has a length of 365 km and a catchment area of 15,100 km². In the upper reaches it flows to the town of Radomyshl through the Ukrainian crystalline massif in a narrow valley with high banks. In its lower reaches, the Teteriv valley in Polesia widens to up to 4 km, the width of the river is 40 to 90 m before it flows into the Dnepr, which is dammed up to form the Kiev reservoir . The Teteriw is mainly fed by snow and rain. It is usually frozen over from December to March.
The main tributaries are the Hnylopjat , Hujwa , Sdwysch (right) and Irscha (left). The largest cities on the river include Zhytomyr , Korostyshiv and Radomyshl .
