Ulf-Dieter Zimmermann

Ulf-Dieter Zimmermann (born September 19, 1949 in Elze Lower Saxony) is a German industrial manager and industrial investor.

Life

Zimmermann studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Berlin. During his doctorate as Dr.-Ing. until 1980 he worked as a research assistant at the TU Berlin. From 1980 to 1990 Zimmermann worked for Flick KGaA in Ratingen ; initially as an assistant to the management, later as managing director of Eichener Maschinenfabrik in Siegerland and Conti Systembau in Ratingen. In 1990 he took over the position of Chairman of the Management Board in the Diesel Engines Division of KHD AG Cologne. From there, Zimmermann went to GEA AG Bochum as divisional director in 1996 and headed WestfaliaSurge Oelde / Chicago.

The acquisition and amalgamation of Westfalia Landtechnik with Surge, Inc., Chicago , Il, USA, largely initiated by Ulf Zimmermann , made the German company the second largest manufacturer of milking and cooling technology in the world. On April 1, 2001, he was appointed to the board of Dynamit Nobel AG, Troisdorf. At the same time he took over the chairmanship of the board of directors of CeramTec  AG belonging to the Dynamit Nobel group . CeramTec AG is a leading industrial company in high-performance ceramics and the world market leader in the field of bioceramics. After the acquisition by the Rockwood Group in August 2004, Zimmermann also took on the role of Division President of this company based in Princeton, NJ , USA. Rockwood was listed on the NYSE under the ROC. Ulf Zimmermann accompanied the company's US IPO as a German manager in 2005.

In 2013, he initiated the portfolio change at Rockwood with the start of the sales process for the CeramTec Group. The financial investor Cinven, based in London, UK, has held 100% of the CeramTec shares since September 2013. Rockwood was founded in 2015 by the US chemical company Albemarle Corp. ( NYSE : ALB) of Baton Rouge, LA, acquired.

In September 2016 Zimmermann was appointed to the Supervisory Board of the CeramTec Group.

In addition to various honorary tasks, he is a commercial judge at the Stuttgart Regional Court. He holds board seats in the US, Europe and Asia.

Zimmermann is married and has four children.
