Ulf Brantås

Ulf Brantås (born March 6, 1957 in Vänersborg , Västergötland , Sweden ) is a Swedish cameraman .

Life

After Ulf Brantås graduated from high school in 1976 with a specialization in business, he worked as an assistant at Falk & Partners Advertising Agency and studied advertising and design at the Beckmans School of Art from 1978 to 1979 . This was followed by an interlude at the advertising agency Hall & Cederquist / Young & Rubicam , before Brantås went freelance as a professional musician with the Swedish band Dave & the Mistakes . He achieved international fame as the opening act for Elvis Costello during his tour between February and April 1981 in the United Kingdom .

He ventured his first steps into the movie business after his music career when he at production assistant Studio 24 / Roy Andersson Film Co. was. When he founded the production company The Record Film Company in 1988, he was also able to work as a cameraman for the first time. His debut work Women on the Roof was awarded the European Film Prize for Best Camera . Brantås was the first to win this category.
