Ulf S. Graupner (born December 26, 1964 in Greiz ) is a German graphic artist , comic artist and illustrator .

Life

Graupner studied animation from 1988 to 1991 at the University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam-Babelsberg . After a brief activity as an animator and background artist in two animation studios , he worked as a comic artist at Mosaik from 1993 to 1999 . Then Graupner was as a draftsman of weekly seven years one-page Abrafaxe - comic strips in the Superillu , before he and his staff at the Sparkassen-comic series in 2004 Knax began.

Graupner's illustrations for the series of novels Ritter Runkel , which the author Lothar Dräger created based on the booklet series of the same name at Mosaik from the late 1960s, enjoy particular popularity .

Graupner's repertoire is extremely varied. However, his drawing style is always characterized by clear contour lines. In many of his works, the artist revives the mosaic style of the 1960s.

The series Das UPgrade was published in 2012 , in which he wrote as a copywriter with illustrator and co-author Sascha Wüstefeld. Three volumes have been published, the first of which won the main prize of the ICOM Independent Comic Prize at the Munich Comic Festival in 2013 . The series ended in 2019.
