Uli Auffermann

Uli Auffermann (* 1960 in Bochum ) is a German writer , photographer and journalist .

Life

Uli Auffermann grew up in the Ruhr area , but has been closely associated with the mountains since childhood and learned mountaineering , climbing and skiing from scratch.

Writing work

Among other things, he wrote the biography of the famous alpinist, mountain guide and first climber of the Eiger north face , Anderl Heckmair , with whom he had a close friendship. In the process, his preference for topics related to classic alpinism with its great personalities developed.

For several years he has been managing the extensive archive of Heckmair, who died in 2005, which includes photos, documents and souvenirs on the subject of mountains, alpinism and skiing. Auffermann also organizes exhibitions, lectures and readings in the context of Heckmair. In particular, he writes articles and books in the field of outdoor, alpinism, hiking, trekking and winter sports. He writes and illustrates for numerous magazines and daily newspapers.

In photo reports he reports on mountain sports in all its varieties, as well as on the beauty of the mountains and other landscapes. For decades he has documented the change and flair of the Ruhr area, his home, with photographs.
