Werner P. Heyd

Werner Paul Heyd (born October 21, 1920 in Stuttgart ; † January 8, 1996 in Oberndorf am Neckar ) was a Swabian journalist and author. From 1945 to 1950 he studied theology, philology, English, folklore, art history, music history and music theory in Tübingen. In 1951 he completed his studies with a doctorate in philology. He married Grete, nee Weisschuh, and has a daughter.

As a journalist, among other things, he was committed to German orthography . He was a member of the international spelling commission that decided in 1954 on the "Stuttgart Recommendations".

From 1961 to 1985 he was an editor at the Schwarzwälder Boten in Oberndorf am Neckar, since 1965 he has been the chief feature editor and wrote regularly about cultural events, exhibitions and artists. In addition to working for his newspaper, he also wrote articles for other magazines, forewords to books and his own books on the art and culture of Southwest Germany.
