Ulrich Baumgartner (cabinet maker)
Ulrich Baumgartner (* around 1580 in Augsburg ; † 1652 ibid) was a German cabinet maker ( Kistler ).
Life
Ulrich Baumgartner worked in his hometown and is considered the best cabinet maker from Augsburg of his time. He specialized in the manufacture of art cabinets ( called desks at the time ), which were sold by Philipp Hainhofer . His workshop was continued by his son Melchior Baumgartner (1621–1686). In the older literature the existence of Melchior was rather disputed and interpreted by Oskar Doering as a misspelling of Ulrich Baumgartner's name by Paul von Stetten .
