Ulrich Buff

Ulrich Buff (born March 9, 1704 in Wald AR ; † October 20, 1772 in Wald AR; authorized to reside in Wald AR) was a Swiss textile entrepreneur from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Ulrich Buff was a son of the businessman Ulrich Buff. In 1730 he married Katharina Schläpfer, daughter of the municipality of Captain Ulrich Schläpfer in memory . The couple had seven sons. Ulrich Buff took over his father's textile business in Wald AR and expanded it with his sons and his father-in-law. The business area mainly comprised France and southern Germany . In the years 1764 and 1766 the trade mark of the family company can be found in the trademark book of Lyon's textile dealers, from 1771 the company Bouff Père & Fils is listed in the lists of Swiss merchants in Lyon.
