Ulrich Roehl

Ulrich Roehl (born May 4, 1934 in Königsberg ) is a German lawyer and former politician ( SED ). From 1989 to 1990 he was State Secretary in the GDR .

Life

Roehl, the son of a baker, attended elementary and high school with a high school diploma. In 1952 he became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). After serving as a member of the barracked people's police from 1952 to 1955, he studied law at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) until 1959, where he graduated as a lawyer . From 1959 to 1964 he was a judge at the Annaberg District Court , then from January 1964 to 1976 a judge or chief judge at the Supreme Court of the GDR . After an unscheduled traineeship at the MLU from 1971 to 1973, he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. From July 3, 1976 to 1990 he worked as General Secretary and from 1985 as 1st Vice President of the "Association of Jurists of the GDR" (successor to Walter Baur).

From November 30, 1989 to January 4, 1990 he served in the Modrow government as State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice (successor to Hans Ranke ). Roehl was replaced by Wolfgang Peller .
