Ulrich Stroth

Ulrich Stroth (* 1957 in Erbach im Odenwald ) is a German physicist .

life and work

Stroth studied physics at the TU Darmstadt . He did his doctorate at the Laue-Langevin Institute in Grenoble on semiclassical theory for the nuclear response function - quasi-elastic electron scattering and completed his habilitation in 1996 at the University of Heidelberg with a thesis on comparative study of transport in stellarators and tokamaks ( A comparative study of transport in stellarators and tokamaks ). In 1999 Stroth became Professor of Physics at the University of Kiel . In 2004 he became director of the Institute for Plasma Research at the University of Stuttgart . Since 2010 he has been head of the " Plasma Edge and Wall" division at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching near Munich and since 2012 he has also been a professor at the Technical University of Munich .

Stroth is married with a daughter and two sons.
