Ulrich Wettstein
Ulrich Wettstein also Ulricus Wet (t) steinius († 1676 in Lübeck ) was a German printer and publisher.
Life
Nothing is known about Wettstein's early life. He was a citizen of Lübeck and owned a house on Hundestrasse .
1662 he received from Duke Christian Ludwig a privilege to open a printing office on the Domhof in Ratzeburg . He was given rooms free of charge in one of the chapter houses belonging to the cathedral; In return he undertook to print the official announcements of the Principality of Ratzeburg free of charge when the paper was provided . On March 25, 1663 he appointed Niclas Nissen to his factor in Ratzeburg; In 1667 he took over the Ratzeburg workshop himself until his death in 1688. His widow Katharina Elisabeth ran it until 1691.
Wettstein remained active in Lübeck as a printer, bookkeeper and publisher.
Since June 2, 1663 he was with Gertrud, geb. Volck, the daughter of a Lübeck bookkeeper and publisher, married. She continued the business until 1678.
