Ulrichsberg is a hamlet in the Grafling municipality in the Deggendorf district in Lower Bavaria . It is located at 636 m on the DEG 19 district road . It is adjacent to the north of Arzting , to the east of Hochoberndorf , to the south of Deggendorf and to the west of Alberting and the Plattling – Bayerisch Eisenstein line .
In addition to a mountain inn and a youth center , the pilgrimage church of St. Ulrich, which gives the hamlet its name , is a former castle chapel . The formerly Gothic church dates from the 15th century and was converted to Baroque style in 1751, the ceiling painting was created in 1754. The namesake of the church is Bishop Ulrich von Augsburg , who was related to the Swabian noble family of Goshammer through the Counts of Dillingen . The Lords of Deggendorf , the original builders of the castle and chapel, came from the Goshammer family . On the north and east slopes of the mountain, the remains of the walls of this former medieval Ulrichsberg castle have been preserved.
