Ulrike Mascher

Ulrike Mascher (born October 24, 1938 in Munich ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

From 1998 to 2002 she was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Labor and Social Affairs . From September 2008 to May 2018 she was the president of the social association VdK Germany .

Career

After graduating from high school in Stuttgart in 1957 , Ulrike Mascher studied law in Heidelberg , Berlin and Munich until 1963 . From 1961 she worked as a freelance assistant director. From 1974 she was an employee at Allianz Versicherungs AG , where she helped set up a studio for training and information media. In 1974 she was elected to the works council and was chairwoman of the works council from 1980 to 1990. From 1998 to 2002 she was State Secretary at Minister of Labor Walter Riester , where she was in charge of drafting the bills for the Riester pension .

Since 2003 Ulrike Mascher has been an elected member of the state board of the social association VdK Bavaria, which represents the interests of more than 500,000 members in the Free State. In January 2006 she was elected as the first woman to be the state chairman of the VdK Bavaria, replacing Horst Seehofer . From May 2006 to September 2008 she was also Vice President of the social association VdK Germany . Since September 30, 2008 she has been President of the social association VdK Germany. Ulrike Mascher did not appear at the VdK Federal Association Day in Berlin in May 2018 and personally recommended Verena Bentele as her successor.

She is also the first chairman of the Association for International Youth Encounters and Memorial Work in Dachau and, after 2002, was also the first chairwoman of the Georg von Vollmar Academy for several years .

Political party

Ulrike Mascher has been a member of the SPD since 1963 . From 1993 to 2007 she was a member of the presidium of the SPD in Bavaria and from 1995 to 2007 she was deputy SPD state chairman in Bavaria.

MPs

From 1990 to 2002 she was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1994 to 1998 she was chairwoman of the Committee for Labor and Social Affairs. Ulrike Mascher has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Munich-Mitte constituency .

Public offices

On October 27, 1998, she was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Labor and Social Affairs in the federal government led by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder . After the federal election in 2002 , she left office on October 22, 2002.
