Ulun

The Ulun ( Russian гора Улун ; also Gora Ulun ) is with 2221  m the officially highest mountain of the Badschal Mountains (Баджа́льский хребет) in the Khabarovsk region in the Far East of Russia .

The Badschal Mountains are a mountain range with a length of approximately 220 kilometers. The mountains are remote and the infrastructure in this area is undeveloped. The third edition of the Great Soviet Encyclopedia (GSE) named a maximum height of 2640 meters for the mountains in 1979, although no name was given for the highest mountain. The geographic band of the GSE led the Ulun in 1986 with an altitude of 2512  m . Topographic maps today indicate the height of the mountain at 2221  m .

In 2016 climbers discovered that the Gora Korol (гора Король, German  Königsberg ) as the highest mountain in the range could have a height of 2263  m . Another winter expedition to the four highest mountains in the Badschalgebirges reported for Korol an altitude of 2269  m and for Gora Korolewna (гора Королева, Queen Mountain ) near an altitude of 2219  m .
