Baron Johan Daniel Carl Ulysses Dirckinck von Holmfeld (born January 26, 1801 in Osnabrück , † July 22, 1877 in Marienhöhe ) was a Danish military and diplomat. In 1848/1849 he was ambassador to the German Empire for Denmark .

Life

Dirckinck-Holmfeld was the son of a colonel and naval captain of the Netherlands, the Danish baron Arnold Christian Leopold von Dirckinck (1763-1828) and his wife Anna Helene Holm, daughter of a bailiff . In 1831 Dirckinck-Holmfeld married Elisabeth Barones Sirtema van Grovestins (1810–1881) from the Netherlands in Hanover .

From 1819 he made a career as a naval officer in the French and Russian sea service until he switched to diplomacy in August 1848. From August to October 1848 he was the Danish interim chargé d'affaires in The Hague and from October 22, 1848 to April 8, 1849 he was envoy to the central authority of the emerging German Empire. From 1849 to 1856 he served as a diplomat in the German Hanseatic cities and at various German courts.

In 1862/1863 he was the last Danish envoy to the Bundestag ; on November 28, 1863 he was expelled from the Bundestag, his service life ended. Politically, he was one of those who wanted to maintain the entire Danish state .

His brothers were the Danish statesman Konstantin von Dirckinck-Holmfeld (1799–1880) and the head of the Prussian Navigation School Baron Edwin von Dirckinck-Holmfeld (1802–1896).
