Umberto Orsini (born April 2, 1934 in Novara , Piedmont Province ) is an Italian film and theater actor .

Life

Before his acting career, Umberto Orsini studied law in Rome and appeared on stage for the first time in 1957. Together with director Giorgio De Lullo and the actor Gianfrancesco Guarnieri he staged many plays, including Death of a Salesman , or together with actress Sarah Ferrati the play Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? . In addition to his acting duties, he was director of the Teatro Eliseo in Rome from 1980 to 1997.

His acting career began in 1957 with the comedy film Marisa la civetta . However, he only achieved his breakthrough in 1960 in Federico Fellini's film Das süße Leben , although he was only present in a minor supporting role. Orsini is better known in Italy than in German-speaking countries and is still in front of the camera today. He himself dared an excursion as an actor in some erotic films and was in front of the camera in 1975 for Emmanuelle 2 - Garden of Love .

In the mid-1990s, he also made a convincing impression in some Bible films with which Orsini found audiences in German-speaking countries.
