An accident auxiliary cars (including accident auxiliary vehicle) is a commercial vehicle , which in accidents of public transport can provide technical assistance.

The vehicles may only be equipped with special signals ( emergency vehicle ) if, according to the vehicle registration certificate , they are recognized as accident rescue vehicles for public transport companies with track-guided vehicles, including trolleybuses . The carriages are equipped with tools for assistance . The background to this regulation is that in electrified trains and trolleybuses, particularly fast assistance in the event of accidents is desirable. The right of way with a special signal is only permitted if z. B. Power cuts must be made. In terms of traffic law, they have the right of way on behalf of an authority according to § 38 StVO.

Emergency vehicle in public transport

The crew of accident rescue vehicles in public transport consists of specially trained employees (especially traffic masters ) from the transport company . At the Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft , some of the vehicles are manned by employees from the U-Bahn guard , while at other larger transport companies they are manned by employees from the supervisory authority .

A special feature is the two-way vehicle for trams (see Figure 1). This vehicle is designed in particular for towing tram cars and vehicles.

Emergency managers from Deutsche Bahn must arrive at the scene of the incident as specialist advisors to the fire brigade . For this purpose, Deutsche Bahn AG maintains emergency vehicles in a silver-red color scheme with special signals. Railway companies are also partly equipped with emergency vehicles. The railway companies support the emergency manager with specially trained employees from the emergency service with vehicle and company-specific expertise.
