Unidad de Gestión Operativa Miter Sarmiento
The Unidad de Gestión Operativa Miter Sarmiento (UGOMS SA), (German: "Eisenbahnbetriebseinheit Miter Sarmiento"), is an Argentine consortium company that has operated suburban traffic on the Sarmiento and Miter networks since 2012 . The two private transport companies Ferrovías and Metrovías as well as the Argentine state are involved in UGOMS . While the former take on the driving staff and maintenance, the state has taken over the administration and payment.
The two route networks Miter and Sarmiento were originally operated by the private company Trenes de Buenos Aires . The Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner revoked the company's license with Decree 793/2012 on May 24, 2012. This happened mainly due to breaches of contract, passenger protests, the state of the traffic and accidents, in particular the serious accident at Once train station on February 22, 2012 with 51 dead and more than 700 injured .
The company was then founded on May 24th as a stock corporation under Argentine law. The UGOFE , which was founded in a similar case after a license was withdrawn , serves as a model .
Since the company was founded, the focus has been on repairing locomotives and wagons - in addition to the day-to-day operation of the two route networks. There is also a focus on the removal of level crossings and the renovation of train stations. Work is also being carried out on a tunnel solution for the Sarmiento route.
