The Union-Yacht-Club Attersee (UYCAs) with 980 members (as of March 2018) is one of the largest and with over 130 years of club history one of the oldest yacht clubs in Austria . The constituent meeting took place on April 21, 1886.

activities

For several years in a row, the UYCAs has been the sportiest club in the rating of the Austrian Sailing Association (ÖSV).

In cooperation with the ASVÖ Attersail team , the youth boat classes Optimist , Zoom 8 , Europe , Laser (radial) and 420er are looked after. This includes both preparation through training events and support with regattas .

Internationally, sailors from the Olympic classes such as Laser and Laser radial, Finn , Tornado , Soling and the Star take part in regatta events .

In addition, the UYCAs owns the largest fleet of kites in Austria, which, together with the Atterseefleet of star boats, contributes to the success of the club.

Special attention is also paid to the preservation of old traditional classes , here especially the special class . Many of these old racing yachts are looked after and maintained by their owners as part of club activities and, above all, are regularly moved around in regattas. These include the Hagen (built in 1913) or the Vidi II (built in 1902).

Club area

The club area is located on the west bank of the Attersee in the Aufham district of the Attersee community . The club's events lead to over 20,000 overnight stays per season and contribute significantly to tourism in the region.

Club history

Numerous world, European and state championships have been won by the active athletes of the UYCA since the club was founded. They include the Shark 24 world champion Anton Stader (1983) and, since 2000, the professional sailing professional Andreas Hagara (* 1964), who became world champion in the tornado in 1987 , won 14 medals at world and European championships until 2003 and is now a tactician for the offshore team Astrosailing is.
