Union Verdadera (German: True Unity ) is the first studio album by the German band Culcha Candela . It was released by Universal on September 12, 2005.
Texts and style
In contrast to the group's more recent albums, which are almost entirely in German, are heavily influenced by electronic beats and auto-tune and can mainly be assigned to the dancehall genre, this album contains influences from reggae , salsa and samba . The music was almost exclusively recorded live in the studio with instruments either by themselves or by guest musicians. The texts are evenly distributed in Spanish, English or German. While Itchyban's lyrics are exclusively in German, Mr. Reedoo and Johnny Strange sing and rap in both German and English (with patois influences), Don Cali and Lafrotino in Spanish and Larsito even in all three languages.
The album features both party songs and songs about more serious issues like politics ( Augen Auf , This Is A Warning ) and racism ( Chant As One , No es igual ).
