The University of Zenica is a government institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina . The foundation goes back to a technical school for metallurgy , which was affiliated to the University of Sarajevo as an external faculty in 1961 . In the following years, further faculties were founded, some of which were affiliated with the University of Tuzla . On October 18, 2000, the Zenica University was founded as an independent institution by decision of the Zenica-Doboj cantonal government . The university is a member of the network of Balkan universities (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey).
There are eight faculties at which study programs for bachelor and master degrees are offered in accordance with the Bologna rules .
