The University of September 9 ( Turkish : Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi ) is a state university in Izmir , Turkey with around 43,000 students and 3,000 academic employees.
history
The university emerged in 1982 from a spin-off from Ege University in Izmir. Its name refers to the end of the Greek occupation of Izmir on September 9, 1922 during the Turkish Liberation War . The university is known for its analytical research in the social sciences . The university is a member of the network of Balkan universities , has an extensive university library and is one of the largest university teaching research institutions worldwide.
