Nurkan Erpulat
Nurkan Erpulat (* 1974 in Ankara ) is a Turkish theater director and author .
Life
He studied acting at the University of September 9th ( Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi ) in İzmir , has worked as an actor since 1996 and played in several plays and short films. In 1998 he moved to Berlin , played theater and studied theater pedagogy at the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK) and, since 2003, directing at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin , where he was the first Turk to be accepted for directorial training .
Erpulat's early directorial work - for example Faked after Kerem Kurdoglu at the 2007 Beyond Belonging Festival - received unusual media coverage .
In 2008 Erpulat first staged his own piece Jenseits - are you gay or are you Turkish? - written together with Tunçay Kulaoğlu . at the Beyond Belonging Festival in HAU 2008. The piece was resumed in December 2008 in Ballhaus Naunynstraße.
In November 2008 Erpulat staged Zaimoglus and Senkel's shadow voices for the opening festival “Dogland” in the converted Berlin Ballhaus Naunynstrasse .
In the winter of 2007, Nurkan Erpulat staged the play Heimat im Kopf together with ten young people from Hanover . This successful production was invited to the 29th Theatertreffen der Jugend in May 2008.
Together with Jens Hillje he adapted the French film Today I'm wearing Rock! by Jean-Paul Lilienfeld for the play Verrücktes Blut , which in 2011 was voted “German-language play of the year” by the independent jury of German-speaking critics in the magazine Theater heute . For his staging at the Berlin Ballhaus Naunynstrasse , Erpulat was also named “Young Director of the Year”.
In autumn 2011 Erpulat staged at the Ruhrtriennale .
