University service
A university service is a service that is organized by members of the university community , theology students and / or theology lecturers . It usually takes place at regular intervals (e.g. every two weeks) during the lecture period of the hosting university . The venue is usually a public church (Hamburg, St. Katharinen ), which is sometimes referred to as a university church .
University services are common. B. in Berlin , Erlangen , Göttingen , Hamburg , Leipzig and Rostock . For example, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg with the Neustädter Church and the University of Rostock with the Monastery Church of the Holy Cross have a university church . At some universities there is the office of the university preacher , who is responsible for conducting the university worship service. In Rostock, for example, it has been held by the Chair of Practical Theology at the Theological Faculty of the University of Rostock, Thomas Klie , since 2005 .
