Unplugged is a music album by the Swiss dialect rapper Baze from 2007. It is a live album consisting of recordings of two concerts. These were completed by the musician together with the group Secondo . The album stayed in the Swiss album charts for a week.

Emergence

Baze and Secondo

Baze played two smaller concerts on Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th of January 2007 in the Bernese Sous-Soul concert hall together with Secondo. He presented songs from his two albums Mis Meitli and Item as well as the EP Himutruutig . Unplugged therefore does not contain any new titles. Additional recordings then took place in the Studiomamma in Münchenbuchsee, where the songs were also mixed. The mastering took place in the living room studio in Oberbottigen .

Due to the live instruments, the hip-hop beats of the songs on Unplugged are often more melodious than the original, which also gives the album style elements from other musical genres.

Reviews and review

Unplugged rose from number 84 on the Swiss album charts on November 18, 2007 and stayed there for a week.

“On the album, Baze raps through his previous work - starting with the EP 'Himutruurig' and the song of the same name, he rhymes through his first solo debut 'Item' to his last output 'Mis Meitli'. He can be celebrated between the tracks. He gives the wrong song announcement from the clumsy side, screams for more strings to refine his sounds - and he marks the audience present in the Sous Sol. So Baze is not only a rapper, but also an entertainer. […] Musically, Baze only won thanks to the live band behind him. The songs seem more multifaceted and powerful. It is quite possible that the native of Bern has done pioneering work in the local hip-hop landscape and that many more rap acts from his home country will soon be on stage with a band. Before the encore, Baze gives the audience a grade of 5. This is what he earned for his album. Put."

- Criticism on students.ch

“Almost in country style, drums and acoustic guitars chase through 'Himutruurig'. In 'Bärg Ab', the bass is very prominent in the sound. Here a trace of rockabilly ('Aus Klar?'), There a reggae offbeat, soulful strings and a pinch of ska ('Guet So Wis Isch'): worn-in rap heads should have some problems with the instrumentation, which is completely ignorant of Hip Hop to get."

- Criticism on laut.de

"BAZE 'Unplugged' is bluntly direct, honest and raw like an unpolished diamond, which radiates its real elegance in a natural way more pronounced."
