Our Planet (Original title: Our Planet ) is a British nature documentary that was produced for Netflix . The series is commented in the original English by David Attenborough and in the German version by Christian Brückner . It was produced by Silverback Films under the direction of Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey, who were also involved in the BBC documentary series Planet Erde , Eisige Welten and Our Blue Planet , in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) .
The series deals with nature conservation and shows different animals in their respective home regions. It is the first nature documentary that Netflix produced. All episodes were released worldwide on April 5, 2019. According to Netflix, 25 million households watched the series in the first month of its release.

On April 15, 2015, it was announced that the team behind the BBC nature series Planet Earth will produce an eight-part nature documentary series for Netflix , which will be released in 2019. It took four years to produce and it was shot in 50 countries. Over 600 crew members took part in the production. The series focuses on the diversity of habitats around the world, including the arctic wilderness, the deep sea, the vast landscapes of Africa, and the diverse jungles of South America.
In November 2018, David Attenborough was announced as the narrator. The release date of April 5, 2019 has also been announced.
Promotional activities
The series premiered on April 4, 2019 at London's Natural History Museum . Guests at the premiere included Prince Charles and his two sons Prince William and Prince Harry , Charlie Brooker , David Beckham and son Brooklyn Beckham , Ellie Goulding, and series spokesperson David Attenborough , who attended the event to seek support for action against underline climate change.
Speaking as part of his speech, Prince Charles said he hoped Our Planet would “educate hundreds of millions of people around the world on what action is needed” while David hopes that people would be “responsible, careful residents of ours and protect and cherish the home for all creatures ”.
The first teaser trailer for Our Planet was released on November 8, 2018. Three months later, on February 4, 2019, the second teaser trailer was released. The official trailer for the documentation was released on March 19, 2019.
