Corinna is sitting in her room and kneading a chimney sweep , because her father does this job.
He rides his bicycle to the houses where he wants to sweep the chimneys the next day, to announce this with a sign on the front doors. Before he starts sweeping, he calls out to all the residents in the courtyard to close the slides on the ovens so that no dirt can get into the apartments. Now he has the attic key given to him so that he can climb the chimney . From up there he can see the whole city and while he is cleaning a chimney he is always singing a song. Climbing up such a chimney takes a lot of courage, which Corinna's father had to acquire during his apprenticeship. Today he is a master and no longer has any problems with it.
When people meet him on the street, they often want to touch him because it is supposed to bring good luck. Since his workshop is next to a registry office, there are also many newly wedded couples. In the workshop he repairs his tools, brooms and lines. When he finds time after work, he goes to a park with Corinna and they both paint the landscape, which they love to do. Corinna's dad is particularly happy when he has to sweep the chimney in a kindergarten. The children are always nice and sometimes sing him a song about the chimney sweeps and they are all allowed to touch him once.

Chimney sweep was organized by the Artistic Working Group (KAG) Real Abendgruß production of DEFA for the series Parents Portrait as a result of the film series Our Sandman on ORWO Color rotated and the first time in the March 21, 1977 East German television broadcast. The first demonstrable performance on a big screen took place on December 15, 2019 in the Berlin Zeughauskino .
