The location Unter vorm Steeg in the Zoo residential area in the Elberfeld-West district of Wuppertal goes back to an old farm name.
The owner family vorm Steeg named themselves after the estate vorm untersten Steeg , which was mentioned in 1594. The neighboring location of the Oben vorm Steeg estate is reported in 1644.
The name of the location probably goes back to a footbridge, an old Wupper bridge.
The local situation or the court houses have not been preserved, in the 20th century the area was built over with factory buildings. A cul-de-sac, known as "Unter Vorm Steeg", leads from Rutenbecker Weg in a westerly direction.
In the 1990s, the multi-purpose hall of SV Bayer Wuppertal , the Bayer sports hall , was built here.
