from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Unteralp is located at 1434  m above sea level. A. and is located in the area of the municipality of Dornbirn . This is an alp for grazing cattle and a piece of land in the same place. The alpine hut has been abandoned and no longer exists (destroyed).

In this area, the Alpe is part of a larger alpine hut and alpine farming complex, many of which are still preserved and managed.

Word meaning

The name Unteralp probably comes from the location of the alp in the area of the alpine complex in the Mellental (in the sense of: the lower alp). Thus, an alp that is bumped before the upper alp ( Oberalp , 1735  m above sea level ) could be used. The alp was grazed in sections with the cattle from the lowest area of the Unteralp upwards.

history

On May 29, 1513, Abbot Kaspar of the Mehrerau monastery confirmed to the Marx parakeet of Ems that the Unteralp, located in the rear of the Mellental, was declared an emsiches inheritance according to a document from 1418. The Oberalp was first mentioned in a document in 1417 in a border description.

In 1836 the Alpe first came into the hands of the Bregenzerwald . The Bezau coppersmith Anton Fischer, Ellenbogen, acquired the Unteralp from Alois Öchi from Hohenems . The new owner of the alp first had to obtain the right to lift through the Mellental before he could move up to the alp. After initial difficulties, the Oswälder Alpgenossen granted him a limited right to drive through in 1840. 1913 sold Anton Fischer Alpe to the Mellau Josef Jakob Feuerstein (Altvorsteher of Mellau) and Bartle Moosbrugger. With the proceeds of the sale, Fischer bought twelve grazing rights on the Alpe Lindach .

Example of subalpine-alpine vegetation in autumn on the Sünser Alpe

The alp is located on the southeastern border of the municipality of Dornbirn on a slope sloping from southwest to northeast. The Unteralp is about 3 km as the crow flies from the Oberalp . Below the Unteralp lies the Haslachalpe ( 1240  m above sea level ), to the east the Alpe Lindach (around 1140  m above sea level ). To the south-west, the Alpe borders the Hohe Freschen ( 2004  m above sea level and the municipal boundary of Laterns ) and the Binnelgrat. To the south is the Schusterstuhl ( 1917  m above sea level ) and the Riesenspitze ( 1774  m above sea level ). The Alpe has no access for motor vehicles.

This alpine area is a medium contiguous area with typical alpine landscapes in the steepest position with natural meadows, scree slopes and subalpine bushes, typical for the subalpine-alpine level.

The approximately 4.67 km long Haslachbach flows along the north-eastern edge of the "Unteralp" parcel, which rises between the Alpkopf ( 1788  m above sea level ) and the Binnelalpe (about 1724  m above sea level ) in the "Binnelhahn" parcel which subsequently flows into the Mellenbach at water kilometers 7.24. The Haslachbach takes on several unnamed smaller bodies of water from the Unteralp area.
