The Alpkopf is a 1788 meter high mountain in the Bregenzerwald Mountains , which is located in the municipality of Dornbirn ( Dornbirn district ). The top of the mountain is easily accessible on foot.
The European long-distance hiking trail E4 (Northern Alpine Trail 01 / Austrian Long-Distance Hiking Trail 01 , section Bregenz - Bödele - Hoher Freschen - Damüls ) leads directly past the foot of the Alpkopf.
location
The Alpkopf is about 1430 m as the crow flies east of the Salzbodenkopf ( 1765 m above sea level ). The Hohe Freschen is about 2400 m as the crow flies to the south and the Sattelspitz is about 1000 m to the northwest.
The Alpkopf is also located directly on the hiking trail between the Dornbirner First to the Binnelalpe (about 1724 m above sea level ) and the Hohe Freschen. To the west it drops steeply to the Bockshangalpe (about 1340 m above sea level ). The closest to the Alpkopf is the Altenhofalpe (around 1600 m above sea level , as the crow flies around 800 m).
summit
The Alpkopf is largely covered with grass on the eastern side and is rather inconspicuous. There is a simple wooden summit cross on it.
Below the summit on the western, steeply sloping side, several streams arise, which unite to form the Bockshanggraben, which in turn forms a tributary of the Ebniterach .
hike
The Dornbirner First , the Alpkopf and the Hohe Freschen require surefootedness, sometimes a head for heights and alpine equipment with good mountain boots. The closest hiking base is the Freschenhaus ( 1846 m above sea level ). The surrounding Alps are partly cultivated in summer.
