The medieval settlement of Holtze was documented in 1400. Later it was broken down into the place names Oberholz and Unterholz . Both have already been recorded separately in the original cadastre . The name of the settlement wood referred to the topographical location in a forest area. In 1905 Unterholz had seven farms with 31 inhabitants.
