Location of Grube in Bergisch Gladbach

Grube is a district in the Romaney district of Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The name Grube emerged from the settlement name of the same name, which was documented as early as 1666 as zur Groven . The original cadastre records the single farm Gruben , from which a hamlet with 5 houses and 31 residents had formed up to 1905 along the old road from Mülheim to Wipperfürth (today's Romaneyer Straße).

Mining

The name comes from the old mining that took place in the area. You can still see pings everywhere , representing the near-surface mining of iron . With the start of the coal and steel industry , the Prince Wilhelm mine was awarded here.
