history

The Waldhufendorf lower plate consists of a 6½ hooves comprehensive corridor . It was first mentioned in 1401 under the name “Disk”. It is assumed, however, that it is identical to the “Neunhufen” or “Neunhausen” that was donated to the Grünhain Abbey in 1240 . There is no reliable evidence of this.

Politically, Unterscheibe has always been part of Markersbach . Especially in the 16th and. In the 17th century , the community made up of both villages is often led under the name of the larger village Unter- or Niederscheibe. For both villages together there was only one rolling judicial office and appointed judges .

The main source of food was small-scale farming, which was barely enough to feed the family. In addition, there were a few craftsmen such as farriers, tailors and butchers resident. Two mills were established in the 18th and 19th centuries . The Frenzel sawmill developed from the older of the two and is still in operation today and can be viewed as a technical museum.
