action

Sophie Hartley is a successful children's author whose mother recently passed away. Sophie is convinced that Mara, the attractive work colleague of her husband Craig, wants to seduce him and drive her crazy. The entire family suffers from Sophie's insomnia and confusion. Objects and photos disappear in Sophie's house, and it even seems that a swarm of wasps has been attacked on her life. Sophie suspects Mara and even breaks into her house to search it. She is not believed and is believed to be mentally disturbed. Mara obtains an injunction prohibiting Sophie from approaching Mara or her home more than 500 meters.

Craig decides to leave Sophie temporarily, which Sophie takes advantage of to investigate her suspicions. In fact, she finds evidence in Mara's basement that she is not insane and discovers that Mara is her illegitimate daughter, whom she put up for adoption as a teenager. When she is surprised by Mara in the basement, the two women get into a scuffle. A fire lit by Mara ultimately brings them both to the hospital. At the bedside, Sophie Craig confesses her past and reveals to him that Mara is her daughter. The couple make up again because their relationship suffered greatly from Sophie's paranoid behavior. Sophie later visits Mara in the hospital, hugs her and apologizes to her. In the final scene, Mara assembles her picture in old family pictures of Sophie. It becomes clear that not she, but her deceased childhood friend Kate is Sophie's daughter.
